FIRE IS NOT MOVING TOWARDS VALLEY CENTER

Contrary to what you might have seen on a local TV station, such as Channel 10, the fire in Pauma Valley and the Nate Harrison grade is not moving towards Valley Center.
VC Fire Protection District Board Pres.

Mel Schuler, who spoke this evening with Chief Kevin O’Leary and told me that, while it looks pretty frightening to someone who might be watching from Pauma Heights, the fire is burning over areas that it has already passed through, rather than moving into a new unburned area.

“They have no concern about it crossing Hwy 76 and into Pauma Heights,” said Schuler.
He noted also that the wind is shifting over to the east now, which is also away from that part of Valley Center.
“It’s not moving towards Pala at all right now,” said Schuler.

He was reacting to an earlier report from Channel 10 news that the fire was coming off the mountain and heading towards VC.

“We don’t want to spook the people who are in the evacuation center at the high school,” said Schuler.

Thank you so much for all the info. We are in Temecula and are not getting much info except for hear say. My best friend has been evacuated from miller and cole grade and we were being told that the fire was going to destroy the house, but thanks to your report she is feeling much better. We really appreciate you and everyone helping you, keep up the good work.

I live in VC - and did not evacuate. I live off of Fruitvale close to VCHS, and I figured why go there if am so close already.

No sight of fires so far, last night I set the alarm for every hour on the hour to check and never saw anything.

Went to the VC market store today and it was packed, lots of people out and about, spoke to neighbors and no one has seen fire in VC that I spoke too.

VC from what see appears to be untouched there were lots of people out today, I saw lots of police and firetrucks but no one was blocking Valley Center/Lilac intersection anymore, the grade may be blocked lower down I dont know, but it seems like all is well.

Gas station was open too and lots of business.

Can anyone shed any light on the Pamoocha Fire, Witch Fire and any others that are affecting the majority of Valley Center? Also, does it look like they are letting people back into the community starting on Thursday? Thanks

Does anyone have information about the Anderson place at 20121 off 76? It used to be the Fitch/Mendenhall (Cuca Ranch)place that the Andersons rebuilt.

Harvest Farms Market also open - but out of milk & bread. There was no fire activity along Lilac.

I am so frustrated. we got reports from the vc fire department that we are NOT to come back. that road blocks have been set up with gaurds to keep people out- mainly out of harms way. We were also told that Paradise is still burning and Palomar to Rincon to Pauma Valley. If business is booming at the VC Store and Gas station then why are so many of us in limbo out here in Temecula with orders to stay out!!!

Thanks Dave. That's what we were waiting to here. Let us know if you hear anything about letting us back in. We were all set to come back from San Diego, but got word from others that the roads were still closed.

Well you know, what is confusing about the original post is that it mentions that it was last night when the declaration was made, it was not right now, so it might help to clarify when that was said, since a lot can happen in 24 hours.

This has been my main source of VC info and I am so grateful. We live on Cool Valley/Callejo Feliz, and have no idea whether or not our place was damaged. I have begged for info, but to no avail. Does ANYONE have any idea when we can come back? It seems almost everyone has been allowed to return but VC residents. If it's dangerous, okay, but can SOMEONE say SOMETHING to those of us who need to know if they have no home? Sorry to carry on so...just want to come home :) and feel terribly uniformed by the mainstay media.

First and foremost; I do not live in VC but my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I have some horses at Valley Creek Farm (Cole Grade and Cool Valley) which we were unable to get out prior to this...one of them is a baby who has a respitory infection (so obviously the smoke is making a very bad situation)...can anyone tell me about the air quality around there and the situation...as soon as the roads open I will get them out but in the meantime.....again, STAY SAFE and know that we are out there thinking of all of you.

I live off West Lilac on Roadrunner Ridge and there is a road block down at Circle R. If you leave the area you will not be able to come back up. I have not heard when the road block will be lifted.

I'm in the Old Castle/Wilkes area. Blackinton airport across the road is being used as a helicopter staging area. There are about 7 choppers (SDFD and others) and 4 fuel trucks sitting on the runway.
