Harrah’s Rincon Celebrates Earth Hour 2010 In The Dark

Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort will join the world and 50 Harrah’s Entertainment properties in celebrating World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour. On March 27, 2010, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., Harrah’s Rincon Casino & resort will turn off the external decorative lighting and marquees.

“In the last six years, the employees at Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort have diligently worked to decrease energy use, waste and carbon emissions. We hope our example of environmental stewardship will be an inspiration to others in the business community to ensure the longevity of our planet,” said Janet Beronio, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort. “We invite you to stand in solidarity with hundreds of millions of people around the world on Saturday, March 27th to make a statement of concern about climate change.”

CodeGreen, Harrah’s comprehensive environmental program, focuses on critical issues of energy, waste, water and carbon management throughout the company’s casino resorts. Each resort in the Harrah’s U.S. portfolio has CodeGreen teams that implement a corporate strategy aimed at engaging grassroots employees to enhance energy efficiencies, reduce the impact on natural resources and improve waste streams. As the only gaming company to be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Harrah’s has earned both the EPA WasteWise New Partner Gold Achievement Award and the EPA Quality Award for extensive conservation programs.
