MOVING BACK TO THE PAPER

The Roadrunner in exile will be returning from exile this morning. We are moving back to the office and I will conduct the blog from there once reestablished.

For those of you asking about specific areas in Valley Center and whether your home is safe: If you are not in the Guejito, Paradise Mountain part of town, your home should be safe since there were no structures burned down in the main part of town, although there were a few spot fires.

I'll be attending the CalFire briefing this morning and so will post after that. I'll be off for a few hours, so please be patient.

I am very curious to know the status of Valley Creek Farm...they were not able to get their horses out (I have some there) and was wondering when we could come in and get them.

Just wanted to thank you. This is my only real source of information. We have been in Corona and now Temecula. The L.A. news stations are not real good. I don't care what movie stars houses are in danger. This has been my best source for Valley Center. Thanks to everyone who has been updating info. Nice to know we live in such a great place with good people.

When can we get back into valley center? Can we get back in with ID?

thanks

FYI re: road access: My husband left town via Lilac rd. to 76 at about 7 a.m., headed to Murrieta, and there was still a state trooper posted there to prevent people coming back into VC.

Is Pauma Valley Country Club reopen to residents?

David, we can't thank you enough for being our eyes and ears for the community. We are up in the Moreno Valley area and are not getting much regular coverage, especially for VC. Did you stay in the area and therefore can move back into the Roadrunner office or can we assume that the Guard is going to start letting people back into the areas.

Thanks again.

When will the roads be open again?

Can you give me an update on Sunset Way? We heard that the fire had come up to our property but did not damage the house.

Also, we want to deliver hay but we are not in Valley Center..do you think they will let us in?

Thanks for providing a wonderful service- this is very helpful to us locals. How do you get permission to get in to irrigate a grove? I don't have a business card, but my livelihood depends on it. We tried every entrance yesterday and couldn't get in.

To the owner of the personal weather station near MacTan and Vesper--I am grateful you have that and make data available to us. I checked weatherunderground after the evacuation and yours was still collecting data (Hillsdale powered down shortly after the evac calls went out). I assumed that all was well in the MacTan hood as long as your station was updating. That was my reference that things were OK for the first day.

Thanks for passively helping my sanity!

Hi David,
Cole and I are making a thank you poster for all the fire fighters and volunteers. we are also making brownies to take to our local fire fighters stationed down the road form us. Please let me know if you think of anything else a child can do to feel a part of helping.

Any news on the area of Hidden Valley Equestrian Center on Cole Grade Road? It's pretty close to the Pauma Valley Country Club.

Thank you... this is the most reliable source of info we can get.

I wanted to let people know the status of the Sunset area. There are no reports of property loss. My family chose to stay thru the evacuation. We have been in touch with other families who also remained and have been keeping an eye on the fire lines. All is safe in the area from Sunset all the way into town. No word on when residents can return.

Can you tell me if Sagebrush Trial was evacuated? I'm in South Carolina & I haven't heard from my son since yesterday morning.

I live in Hideaway Lake area on Lilac Road. If I had known V.C. could be closed for so long with no threat, I wouldn't have evacuated, or at least would have spent an hour to gather things I needed for work, etc.
Was not asked to evacuate for Paradise Hills fire, just told if I left I wouldn't be allowed to come back. Obviously, many people did not obey the reverse 911 and are still in V.C. I wish I'd stayed home.

Apparently SD news people don't know where V.C. is. I phoned a couple stations and they had zero information. Even road closure reports don't say anything about Old Castle or V.C. Road. Has any media at all been in our town?
They all need maps. Yesterday fires were reported in the middle of downtown Escondido by a reporter who didn't know he was in Del Dios, not Escondido - same street names in both places. It would be great if major stations had at least one person who knew the lay of the land - so much inaccurate.

There isn't much news about this fire on CNN, even my children who live in Valley Center haven't been able to get much news. They called law informant asking for info & couldn't even get anything from them.
