FIRE ON THE NATE HARRISON

8 p.m. on Tuesday

A fire is burning up the side of Palomar Mountain along the Nate Harrison Grade and volunteer firefighters are trying to keep it from cresting the mountain at the County Road Dept. on State Park Road.

From Valley Center High School you can see the fire burning along the ridgeline.

In Pauma Valley along Hwy 76 our reporter Ray Flores says that Valley Nursery has burned.

Hellhole Canyon is still burning with winds picking up again out of the east to the west.

Ray reports that Woods Valley Road is quiet. Authorities have closed Old Castle Road near the Blackinton Airport to incoming traffic. That means they will let you leave but they won't let you come back to Valley Center for the duration.

Good luck and stay safe.

David,

Thank you so much for making these updates. Your information has been great for understanding what is going on.

Recently I noticed that SignOnSanDiego's burn map shows that Paradise Mountain has burned. Do you have any information on that area? My parents evacuated from that area.

Thanks,
Steve

Any word on Hidden Valley Equestrian Center on Cole Grade Road? It's right by the Pauma Valley Country Club, I think...?

The roadblock has been removed from that location. Perhaps it has been moved further east? Or is it gone altogether?

Thanks for the updates. I am staying in Temecula and can't seem to get any info. I brought a friend and her family with me but I am really worried about friends staying in the HS. We live off Cool Valley and my parents live behind the HS we both got calls to leave and we decided to come up here mainly because of the air quality- with my young kids and parents Im not risking it. I know of people who are calling us that chose to stay in the SP reservation... its hard to convince people to leave. Thanks for your updates they are really helping us. We've run into residents at WalMart and Albertsons up here that we have told to use your blog and shared your info Thanks again.

Hi, your reports have been 150% helpful and we as Valley Center Residents really appreciate your updates. We are displaced from our home and are in Palm Springs right now.

We live at the very end of Paradise Mountain Road, looking over Hellhole Canyon (Kiavo Drive). If you know anything at all about this area please let us now... we are desperate for information and cannot sleep at night. Again, thank you for you help, you can reach us at mroseaustin@yahoo.com. Any info is good info- thanks for the updates.

Thank you for the info. It has been difficult to find specific info regarding this area. We evacuated Pauma Valley CC to Pasadena; but many of our neighbors are at the VCHS. Any word about VCHS are and PVCC would be appreciated. zhashim1@msn.com

David,
Thank you for this blog. It appears to have the only info as regards Valley Center! My daughter's in-laws were evacuated this morning and are with us here in Temecula...as are my son-in-laws son and grandson who were evacuated from Escondido. Now...we watch the flames come up behind my granddaughter's high school...Great Oak...and wonder when we will get the call to evacuate? We are prepared..the motor home is packed and ready...but we wonder...where do we go?? The 2 designated shelters in Temecula are full. I guess we can park in the lot of a shopping center and be safe? Have you heard of any evacuation info. for Temecula?
Thanks for what you do,
Diane Thrasher
P.S. Are you MY David Ross from theatre?

Thank you sooo much for your updates. This is a great service to VC residents and well appreciated especially for time like this. We are displaced from Woods Valley (Augusta Dr) and been trying to get info all day until I remember to check your website. Again thanks for taking the time.

Does anyone have any word on the status up on Paradise Mountain Road. We were evacuated early Monday AM and aren't finding info on Paradise Mountain Road.

Thank you.

I would be very happy to make contact with residents of Paradise Mountian Road as my grandparents used to live there and I am concerned about the house they built there. I am hopefull all the houses in that area are spared. Their last name was Holdredge and the built the one story house on top of the hill on the south side of Paridise Mt Rd as well as a smaller house in the valley just west of it. Also they are buried in the Valley Center Cemetary.

Thanks,
