INTERVIEW WITH KEVIN O'LEARY

I interviewed VC Fire Chief and CalFire Battalion Chief Kevin O'Leary as he was coming off the fire lines to get some sleep. He left our fire marshal, George Lucia, who is also the Palomar Mountain Fire Chief, in charge of the division for the night. That division is standing in the way of the expansion of the Witch fire across the Guejito area into Valley Center. It is moving along the Guejito Truck Trail. It has destroyed many structures in the San Pasqual Valley and went around the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

That fire remains a threat to the Bear Valley, Paradise Mountain area of VC, which was evacuated many hours ago. If the winds whips up again, the rest of Valley Center could be threatened in tomorrow's daylight hours.

So far the little community at Lake Wohlford Resort has not been evacuated.

The fire is eventually expected to come down Lake Wohlford Road to Valley Center Road, where the Community Lutheran Church is. That area has all been evacuated.

That same fire, further east, near Mesa Grande, is also a worry for residents of Palomar Mountain because the direction of the prevailing wind could take it up into the mountain.

That's the latest. I'm going home to Palomar Mountain to bed while I still have one!
