Chairs for Charity

Interior Design students at Palomar College have been busy turning used chairs into beautiful works of art for a project designed to benefit wounded veterans by helping provide them with assistance dogs. The chairs will be auctioned off at a fundraising event to be held Friday, Dec. 3 at Ferguson Kitchen, Bath & Lighting Gallery, from 6 – 9 p.m. Money raised will go toward the Wounded Veterans Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI).

According to Palomar Interior Design Instructor Lori Graham, this project has been a positive experience for her students for two years and has resulted in some “amazingly creative works of art.” Last year’s Chairs for Charity project benefitted children diagnosed with terminal diseases.

Graham said, “Come join us for hors d’oeuvres, goodies and desserts along with cooking demonstrations by guest chefs. We will have a raffle and live auction of these very special and unique chairs, made with love by the very talented Interior Design students at Palomar College.” The suggested donation is $10 for general admission and $5 for students.

Ferguson Kitchen, Bath & Lighting Gallery is located at 1725 Hacienda Drive, Vista, 92081 (near Costco, off the Highway 78 Emerald exit).
